Timothy Watkins

Timothy Watkins directs the Center for Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling (CEMM).

Timothy Watkins has worked at the US EPA for over 25 years and is currently the Director of the Center for Environmental Measurement and Modeling (CEMM) in the US EPA’s Office of Research and Development (ORD). As the Director of CEMM, Tim leads an organization of almost 400 scientists and administrative professionals working to protect human health and the environment by delivering innovative measurement and modeling solutions that are used by EPA and its partners to implement scientifically sound and effective environmental management policies and programs. Prior to his current position, Tim served as both the Director and Deputy Director of the National Exposure Research Laboratory (NERL). In addition, Tim has provided scientific and managerial leadership for ORD while serving as the Deputy National Program Director for the Air, Climate, and Energy research program and Acting Director of the Environmental Public Health Division in the ORD’s National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory. Throughout his career at EPA, Tim has focused on building and supporting collaborative relationships within and outside of the Agency including serving as the cochair of Scientific and Technical Subcommittee under the US-Canada Air Quality Agreement and leading collaborative efforts for EPA contributions to the US Centers for Disease Control’s Environmental Public Health Tracking program. Tim received his M.S. in Economics from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his B.A. in Economics and Mathematics from Rollins College.
