About Region 2’s Laboratory at EPA's Edison Environmental Center

What We Do

The Region 2 Laboratory provides analytical and technical support to each of the major programs within the Region. Our goal is to provide timely, high quality, defensible data that supports the monitoring objectives of the regional programs. The lab provides analytical and technical support to each of the major programs within the Region. The programs include air, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA, Superfund, wastewater, drinking water and ambient water. The support includes chemical, microbiological and biological testing of pollutants in water, soil, sediment and tissue samples.

The lab provides analytical support for chemical, microbiological and biological testing of pollutants in water, soil, sediment and tissue samples. The lab has two major components: The Organic and Inorganic Chemistry Section (OICS) and the Sanitary Chemistry and Biology Team (SCBT).   OICS is responsible for the analysis of environmental samples for organic contaminants and metals; SCBT is responsible for the analysis of environmental samples for wet chemical, microbiological and biological contaminants/parameters.
