The communities are being awarded funding under EPA's Brownfields program after being selected in a competitive national competition.

EPA Brownfields Job Training Grants - $200,000 to New Bedford, MA
The City of New Bedford, Massachusetts, was one of 26 organizations nationwide selected to receive $5.1 million in funding to operate environmental job training programs for local unemployed residents.

2020 Revolving Loan Fund (RLF) Supplemental Funding – $1.5 million to New England Communities
EPA has announced $1.5 million in RLF grant supplemental funding for communities in Maine, Rhode Island, and Vermont to carry out cleanup and redevelopment projects at contaminated brownfields properties. Merrimack Valley Workforce Investment Board, of Lawrence, Massachusetts, was one of 14 organizations nationwide selected to receive funding to operate environmental job training programs for local unemployed residents.

EPA Brownfields Area-Wide Planning Grants
The City of Providence, Rhode Island and the Eastern Maine Development Corporation will receive funding to assist with planning for cleanup and reuse of Brownfield sites as part of the Brownfields Area-Wide Planning (AWP) program.
