Legal Clerkships in EPA's Seattle Office (Region 10)
EPA's Region 10 Office of Regional Counsel offers one unpaid internship position each summer. The internship term is up to 12 weeks between May and August of each year.
What Type of Work Will I Do?
Law clerks will conduct legal research, prepare pleadings and motions in administrative cases, draft legal memoranda, attend negotiations with members of the regulated community and attend meetings with representatives of other agencies.
Opportunities may also arise to participate in administrative enforcement hearings or attend court proceedings.
Who Should Apply?
Second year law students with strong research and writing skills and a demonstrated interest in environmental law and policy are encouraged to apply.
How Do I Apply?
Law students wishing to be considered should submit:
- Cover letter indicating your interest and the time periods you would be available to work.
- Resume.
- Writing sample.
- Official or unofficial copy of your law school transcript.
- Contact information for at least two professional references.

Our office reviews applications and conducts interviews on a rolling basis starting December 1 of the year prior to the internship. We will not accept applications after January 15 of the year of the internship.
