Topic overview:

The 10th iterative release of the CompTox Chemicals Dashboard delivers to the community access to data for ~900,000 chemicals. Since inception the focus for the application has been to provide access to data that can support decisions to protect public health and the environment from unintended consequences of using chemicals. As a central portal for experimental and predicted physicochemical and fate and transport data, in vivo and in vitro toxicity data, exposure and consumer products data the Dashboard has become a one-stop-shop for data helping with efforts to identify chemicals of most need of further testing and reducing the use of animals in chemical testing. The dashboard can provide access to data for one chemical at a time or thousands of chemicals via a batch search, thereby providing fast and intuitive access to the expansive data content underpinning the dashboard.

This presentation will show, using a number of case studies, how the dashboard is supporting data access and integration issues to support a number of agency projects. The complexities of data curation for chemical substances will be discussed, including the complex relationships between chemicals that can now be managed in the application. The presentation will conclude with a short review of some of the prototype applications that have been developed in parallel with the Dashboard and will ultimately feed new data and functionality into future versions of the dashboard.
