EPA Evaluates Draft Phase III Watershed Implementation Plans

On June 21, 2019, EPA released its evaluations of draft Phase III Watershed Implementation Plans (WIPs) from Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia, and the District of Columbia to reduce nitrogen, phosphorus and sediment pollution to the Chesapeake Bay.  As part of the implementation of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL, jurisdictions committed to develop WIPs that document how jurisdictions will achieve and maintain water quality standards.   The third and final phase of implementation called for the development of Phase III WIPs which provide information on actions the jurisdictions intend to implement between 2019 and 2025 to meet the goals of the Chesapeake Bay TMDL.  The seven jurisdictions released their draft Phase III WIPs on or before April 12, 2019.
