Chesapeake Bay TMDL

EPA Evaluation of Final 2012-2013 Milestone Commitments and Phase II WIPs in the Chesapeake Bay Watershed

In May 2012, EPA provided its evaluations of Bay jurisdictions' 2012-2013 milestone commitments and their final Phase II Watershed Implementation Plans (WIPs). Bay jurisdictions include Delaware, Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, Virginia, West Virginia and the District of Columbia. The Phase II WIPs build on the initial Phase I WIPs by providing more specific local actions. The two-year milestones identify important near-term commitments necessary to implement the WIP strategies.

Both the WIPs and milestones are important elements in meeting the commitments of having all pollution control measures in place by 2025 to restore the Bay and its tidal rivers. By 2017, controls should be in place that would achieve 60 percent of the necessary pollutant reductions.
