Treatment of District Energy CHP Outputs in LEED® for Building Design and Construction: New Construction and Major Renovations

This fact sheet summarizes how buildings connected to a CHP- equipped district energy system can earn more LEED® points than they could otherwise earn. It presents guidance for meeting the LEED® Minimum Energy Performance prerequisite and calculating points under the Optimize Energy Performance credit, and a hypothetical example demonstrating the application of the USGBC methodology for determining OEP points.
