U.S. State of Kansas Solid Waste Management Plan Approval

On October 19, 2015, EPA conditionally approved the Kansas solid waste management plan (SWMP) that incorporates by reference the federal coal combustion residual (CCR) regulations in title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) in Part 257. This approval is conditioned on Kansas completing a process to adopt the federal minimum CCR requirements. Until this process is completed, the State will use its existing laws, regulations, and permitting authority to implement the requirements governing the disposal of CCR.
