At the federal level, EPA is expediting the review of disinfectants eligible for inclusion on List N as well as applications to add directions for use with electrostatic sprayers to products intended to kill SARS-CoV-2.
Although EPA’s Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA) authorities do not govern the process that states use to register pesticide products, EPA is in conversations with state regulators regarding the registration of disinfectants. It is EPA’s understanding that many states are working to accelerate their reviews and approvals of new List N products, within the bounds of their state requirements.
EPA’s website has a list of products known as “List N” that meet EPA’s criteria for use against SARS-CoV-2, the coronavirus that causes COVID-19. EPA updates this list on a regular basis as additional criteria for inclusion have been added and products are reviewed. For more information, view EPA's List N: Disinfectants for Use Against SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19).
