The Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN Act) Grant Programs
The 2016 Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act (WIIN Act) addresses, supports, and improves America's drinking water infrastructure. Included in the WIIN Act are three new drinking water grants that promote public health and the protection of the environment.

Assistance for Small and Disadvantaged Communities
Section 2104 of the WIIN Act establishes the "Assistance for Small and Disadvantaged Communities" grant to "establish a program under which grants are provided to eligible entities for use in carrying out projects and activities the primary purposes of which are to assist public water systems in meeting the requirements of this title." Reducing Lead in Drinking Water
Section 2105 of the WIIN Act establishes the Reduction in Lead Exposure via Drinking Water Grant Program emphasizing the reduction of lead in drinking water in disadvantaged communities. This grant focuses on reducing lead in drinking water through drinking water infrastructure, treatment improvements, and facility remediation in schools and child care facilities. Learn More
Lead Testing in School and Child Care Program Drinking Water
Section 2107 of the WIIN Act establishes the "Lead Testing in School and Child Care Program Drinking Water" grant to award funding to states and tribes to "assist local and tribal educational agencies in voluntary testing for lead contamination in drinking water at schools and child care programs." In 2020, the EPA continued funding the program to further the implementation and expansion of the program across the nation. Learn more
