Drinking Water Requirements for States and Public Water Systems

Request for Information on State Programs for Lead in Drinking Water in Schools

In March 2004, the Assistant Administrator for Water wrote to directors of state agencies requesting information on state and local efforts to protect children from exposure to lead.

This paper summarizes the responses received from 49 states, Puerto Rico, and the Navajo Nation. It details actions they have taken to reduce children's exposure to lead in drinking water. The summary identifies recommendations made by states for future collaboration with EPA on this issue.
