Who developed EPA EcoBox?

The Toolbox was designed by EPA's Office of Research and Development, in collaboration with other EPA scientists. The list of tools selected for inclusion in the EPA EcoBox pages is comprehensive. Tools are primarily drawn from U.S. state and Federal resources and relevant resources from international agencies are included where applicable.

When was EPA EcoBox developed and how often is it updated?

EPA began to develop EPA EcoBox in 2015 and released it to the public in 2017. EPA plans to add ecological risk assessment resources to EPA EcoBox as they become available.

EPA EcoBox was designed to assist individuals from within government, industry, academia, and the general public with assessing ecological risk.

How do I use EPA EcoBox?

From the homepage, select the tool set that best describes the assessment that you intend to conduct. The Toolbox provides links to a variety of ecological resources organized into 6 topic areas, each containing a series of modules or sub-topics. EPA EcoBox allows you to navigate from different starting points, depending on your specific needs.  Within each tool set, use the menu to specify what you are looking for. Then locate relevant guidance documents, databases, models, or other resources using the tabs at the top of each page.  Also, in some cases, tools may appear in more than one tool set if they include information relevant to more than one topic. Users may also search for tools directly using the tool advanced toolbox search which is available from the home page or the left side menu and allows you to identify tools using key words for quick searching.

How can I find out about updates to EPA EcoBox?

EPA has a mailing list to notify users of updates as they become available. You may sign up for this from the homepage.
