Enforcement Alert: Routine Flaring May Violate Clean Air Act (CAA)

While flaring is an engineering practice, EPA investigations sug­gest that flaring frequently occurs in routine nonemergency situations or is used to bypass pollution con­trol equipment. (October 2000, Volume 3, Number 9, EPA 300-N-00-014)
