Sites with Superfund Alternative Approach Agreements

The sites on the list below have Superfund alternative approach (SAA) agreements in place. The agreements were negotiated after June 2002, when the initial guidance on these agreements was issued.

Some sites have multiple SAA agreements. Other sites share a single SAA agreement (for example, six of the Wisconsin Public Service sites share a single SAA agreement to perform a remedial investigation and feasibility study at each of the six sites). It is also possible for a site to have an SAA agreement and another non-SAA agreement in place at the same time.

Sites with SAA agreements are not precluded from listing on the National Priorities List (NPL), but the expectation is that listing such sites will not be necessary to achieve cleanup.
