Description: Although air quality regulations are widely seen as a drag on the labor market, the strong link between pollution and health suggests that efforts to improve air quality could in fact be a tool for improving worker productivity. During this talk I will present evidence from 2 papers on this topic. The first examines the relationship between ozone and the productivity of outdoor workers in an agricultural setting. The second examines the relationship between fine particulate matter and the productivity of indoor workers in a manufacturing setting.
