2019 "Educate Motivate Innovate" Student Panelists
Meet the students on the Educate Motivate Innovate (EMI) panel at the 2019 National Environmental Justice Conference.
Joey Danielle Batts
Joey is from Murfreesboro, Tennessee. She is a junior at TSU and her major is Chemistry with a concentration in Biochemistry. Her project for the EMI Workshop examined the Modified Health Impact Assessments (HIA) for Two Environmental Justice Communities in New Orleans, Louisiana and Mobile, Alabama.
Sade Shofidiya
Sade is a master’s candidate in Business Administration at Savannah State University. She is passionate about interdisciplinary research with an educational background that includes Information Technology and Psychology degrees. Sade's environmental stewardship began at the age of 11 and she worked for an environmental agency immediately following high school. She is also passionate about honeybees and has started a non-profit, Foster Beelief, that promotes honeybee education, research, and awareness. Her project for the EMI Workshop examined the Foster Beelief's Educational Outreach Program.

Aaliyah Shannon
Aaliyah is majoring in Health Science with a concentration in Public Health. At TSU, she is involved in numerous activities, including researching the impacts of climate change. After graduation, she will be attending nursing school to pursue her dreams of becoming a traveling nurse. Her project for the EMI Workshop focused on Two Community Health Impact Assessments of the Hurricane Harvey Impacts.
