Environmental Response Team (ERT) Fate and Transport

ERT’s environmental scientists and engineers have significant experience in fate and transport of hazardous materials in the subsurface. Fate and transport models estimate the movement and chemical alteration of contaminants as they move through air, soil or water. Modeling includes source-area soils evaluation and delineation, contaminant migration through the vadose zone of free-phase liquids and other contaminants via infiltration/percolation, and the movement of contaminants within groundwater as dissolved-phased plumes with associated reduction in concentration by advection, dispersion, diffusion and biodegradation (if applicable). Additionally, ERT’s experienced groundwater modeler can numerically model contaminant fate and transport using various groundwater models. These models can be used as predictive tools for plume movement.
