EPA Office of Inspector General Audit Appeals Process Improvements
On September 21, 2011, the EPA Office of Inspector General issued a report requiring EPA to improve timeliness for resolving audits under appeal. EPA has agreed to a correction action plan to revise EPA Manual 2570, audit management to include procedures that address it's recipient disputes resolution process. The revised manual provides timelines and procedures for appealing audit decisions. EPA plans to update 40 CFR 31.70 and 40 CFR 30.63 to be consistent with the changes to the manual.
