FY 2018 Tribal Waste Management Capacity Building Training Grant

EPA-OLEM-ORCR-18-03 - Closing Date: July 13, 2018

This notice announces the availability of funds and solicits proposals from eligible entities that will provide training and travel scholarships to federally-recognized tribes in support of waste management capacity building on tribal lands. The recipient will conduct four training courses that will assist tribes in the development and implementation of sustainable waste management programs. The trainings are as follows: 1) Managing Household Hazardous Waste Collection at Transfer Stations; 2) Managing Wasted Food and other Organic Materials; 3) Developing and Updating Integrated Waste Management Plans; and 4) Implementing Integrated Waste Management Plans through Waste Diversion Programs. In addition, the recipient should incorporate mechanisms and tools within the curriculum that will assist tribes with capacity building. Specifically, each training course will provide information on the following: recycling, composting, managing wasted food, reducing and managing the amount of waste that is generated, as well as proper collection and disposal of household hazardous waste. Each training course should include tribal speakers that have developed and implemented successful waste management programs. Also, the recipient will offer travel scholarships for participants to attend each training course.
