RFA Info

Funding Opportunity Number: EPA-R5-GL2019-IAD

This Request for Applications (RFA) solicits applications from eligible entities for a cooperative agreement to be awarded pursuant to the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative Action Plan.

EPA is seeking applications for a project to continue the long-term air deposition monitoring of persistent toxics around the Great Lakes.

The Integrated Atmospheric Deposition Network (IADN) has two primary components:
  1. Core Program: Applicants must propose projects to address the IADN core program. The IADN core program monitors the long-term air deposition of persistent toxics, including PCBs, PAHs, pesticides, PBDEs, and other flame retardants in vapor, particulate, and precipitation phases.
  2. New Chemicals and Special Research: Applicants may propose plans to conduct targeted and non-targeted surveillance of new and emerging chemicals. Further, monitoring per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) and hexabromocyclododecane (HBCDD) has become a focus for the IADN program.

Modification: May 2, 2019

A modification of the Request for Applications was posted May 2, 2019. Revisions were made to pages 1, 6 and 7. See Modification Notice document below.
  • clarifies project period as compared to sampling period
  • explains deletion of Burnt Island
  • lists five U.S. IADN stations

Funding/Awards

Approximately $6 million may be awarded in one cooperative agreement over a five-year period, consisting of incremental funding of about $1.2 million per year. Awarding of incremental funding is contingent upon funding availability, quality of resulting outputs and timeliness of output submission. However, EPA expressly reserves the right to make no award under this request. Applications must have a project period of five years. The award will be incrementally funded and subject to the availability of funding, future appropriations, satisfactory performance of work, and other applicable considerations.
