Greening EPA

Electronics Stewardship at EPA

Electronics are prevalent at EPA, but they pose environmental challenges because of some of their hazardous constituents. To support responsible electronics stewardship, EPA implements the following strategies:

  • Obtaining environmental sustainable electronics products through EPA’s Green Purchasing Plan and other sustainable acquisition policies
  • Duplex printing and power management
  • Following Agency and U.S. General Services Administration personal property disposition procedures for the transfer, donation, sale and recycling of electronic equipment

EPA also supports or participates in the following electronics stewardship activities:

EPA facilities recycle used batteries and toner cartridges from printers and copiers. Many facilities also recycle Technotrash—small electronic items and computer accessories such as diskettes, CDs/DVDs and their jewel cases, and video, audio and computer tapes and their cases.
