Greening EPA

Scope 3 Greenhouse Gas Emissions Results

In FY 2017, EPA reduced its Scope 3 GHG emissions by 57.4 percent compared to FY 2008.

EPA’s Scope 3 GHG Emissions Reductions

EPA has reduced its Scope 3 GHG emissions primarily through decreased employee travel. In FY 2017, EPA’s GHG emissions associated with business air travel were 99.7 percent lower than in FY 2008. More frequent and widespread use of video-teleconferencing equipment among EPA employees also contributed to this improvement.

In addition to decreased business travel, EPA reduced its GHG emissions associated with employee commuting by 37.1 percent in FY 2017 compared to an FY 2008 baseline.
