GPP Webinar: Making the Switch to Green Power

Tuesday, December 17, 2013
1:00-2:00 p.m. (EST)
EPA's Green Power Partnership (GPP)

On Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. (EST), EPA's GPP hosted a webinar titled "Building Your Internal Network: Making the Switch to Green Power."

The session addressed one of the most important elements of organizational clean energy/sustainability strategy: effectively engaging allies across the enterprise.

Particularly for on-site and utility-scale green power opportunities, sustainability and energy staff find that they need to coordinate or collaborate with multiple additional functions within their organization—be it a corporate, institutional, or governmental organization. Building the support of an internal network can make all the difference when it comes to making a purchase or installing green power on-site. In this webinar, we discussed how to build this network, how to leverage other stakeholders' key issues and address their challenges, and who needs to be involved.

Webinar participants learned:

  • Which areas of an organization play a role in using renewable energy—including senior leadership; financial management; facilities management; and operations, energy, and utility management staff.
  • What information each group needs to make a decision on using green power, and how to present it in terms they will understand and support.
  • Real world examples from American University and Mars Incorporated.
