Grenada Manufacturing, LLC, Facility Cleanup and Environmental Studies in Grenada, MS

EPA became aware of the potential for trichloroethene (TCE) contamination while overseeing a cleanup of the Grenada Manufacturing, LLC, facility under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). This facility is commonly known as Grenada Stamping or Rockwell International Wheel & Trim, and currently operated by Ice Industries. In response, EPA conducted an environmental study in and around Eastern Heights to evaluate whether contamination may be traveling into the community.  EPA also directed that an air study be conducted at the facility to assess elevated levels of TCE. As of December 21, 2017, in consultation with the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality, EPA transitioned oversight responsibility for the cleanup of this facility from its authority under RCRA to the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA).
