The nonwastewater streams generated from the production of specific dyes, pigments, food, drug and cosmetic colorants were added as listed hazardous waste, K181. The rule has a threshold level for constituents of concern (e.g., aniline levels below 9300 kg/yr) over which the waste must be managed as hazardous. In addition, waste sent for disposal in landfills meeting specific design standards is exempt from hazardous waste management.
