Report to Congress: Wastes from the Extraction and Beneficiation of Metallic Ores, Phosphate Rock, Asbestos, Overburden from Uranium Mining and Oil Shale

This Report to Congress provides a comprehensive assessment of possible adverse effects on human health and the environment from the disposal and utilization of solid waste from the extraction and beneficiation of ores and minerals. All metal, phosphate, and asbestos mining segments of the United States mining industry are included in the assessment. Waste categories covered include mine waste, mill tailings, and waste from heap and dump leaching operations.
