Facility Description
The Ball & Socket Company manufactured metallic buttons and fasteners from the 1850s until September 1994. On-site operations included metal stamping of brass and carbon steel, tumbling, electroplating, lacquering, and metal cleaning. Electroplating waste sludge lagoons were operated as part of waste management activities.

This approximately 3 acre facility is located in a mixed commercial/industrial area of Cheshire, CT. According to the US Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset, this facility is located in the Mill River-Frontal Long Island Sound watershed and the nearest fresh surface water body is located on or immediately adjacent to the property. Geology in this area has been observed to be dominated by arkose and conglomerate formations.
