Certain contaminated soils were removed and disposed of off site. The EPA Superfund Removals Program mobilized to the site in 2008 and excavated a contaminated drainage swale. Following excavation, an armored covering was placed over the swale.

The Site was formerly owned and operated by the Burndy Corporation, beginning in 1956, for the manufacture of electrical components and accessories. Operations included rubber and plastic molding, operation of power presses, screw machining, degreasing, plating, wastewater treatment, soldering, assembly, and shipping. Metal hydroxide sludges from the treatment of wastes generated by electroplating were accumulated in two on-site surface impoundments and disposed of in an on-site landfill. Operations ceased in 1993.
This approximately 23 acre facility is located in a mixed industrial/commercial area of Milford, CT. According to the US Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset, this facility is located in the Mill River-Frontal Long Island Sound watershed and the nearest fresh surface water body is located on or immediately adjacent to the property. Geology in this area has been observed to be influenced by shallow groundwater.
