Cleanup Activities

This facility received a "Remedy Construction Complete" determination on September 29, 2015. Contaminated concrete and soil were removed from the facility in 2000, and a groundwater/soil gas monitoring program was instituted.

Facility Description

The Aerospace Technique Incorporated facility manufactured aircraft engine parts for local industries from 1973 until the late 1990s. Manufacturing processes included use of a leach field and a 1,1-Trichlorethane distillation and storage area.

This approximately 7 acre facility is located in a mainly residential area of Cromwell, CT. According to the US Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset, this facility is located in the Mattabesset River watershed and the nearest fresh surface water body is located on or immediately adjacent to the property. Geology in this area has been observed to be dominated by arkose and siltstone formations.
