The waste storage container areas and tanks have been "clean closed" in accordance with RCRA regulations. Contaminated soils were excavated and disposed of off site. An underground storage tank was removed from the property.

This property was occupied in the 1960s and 1970s by an insulation company, metal engraving company, and the Legers Rubbish Removal Corporation. The Commercial Disposal Company later operated on the property from the late 1970s until around 2000. During this period, Commercial Disposal performed rubbish disposal and transfer on site, and accepted certain hazardous wastes from commercial clients, consisting mostly of waste solvents. Greater than 90 day hazardous waste storage container areas and tanks were maintained for a time during operations.
This approximately 2 acre facility is located in an industrial area of West Springfield, MA. According to the US Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset, this facility is located in the Batchelor Brook-Connecticut River watershed and the nearest fresh surface water body is located approximately 300 feet away. Geology in this area has been observed to be dominated by arkose and siltstone formations.
