Cleanup Activities

A groundwater extraction system and collection trench was installed to prevent the off-site migration of a solvent contaminated plume beneath the property.

Facility Description

The Leesona Corporation operated on this property from 1960 until 1985, manufacturing textile machinery. Operations within the building included metals finishing, steam cleaning, industrial painting, rust proofing, heat treatment of metals, and storage. Waste solvents generated on the property were managed in a greater than 90 day hazardous waste storage area.

This approximately 7 acre facility is located in a mixed industrial/residential area of Warwick, RI. According to the US Geological Survey's National Hydrography Dataset, this facility is located in the Narragansett Bay-Frontal Rhode Island Sound watershed and the nearest fresh surface water body is located approximately 44 feet away. Geology in this area has been observed to be dominated by arenite and shale formations.
