Hazardous Waste Cleanup: American National Can in Lemoyne, Pennsylvania

On this page:

Cleanup Status

PADEP visited the American National Can facility and met with company representatives on January 21, 2009.  EPA is reviewing existing environmental information to determine if further investigation is required.  EPA will focus first on the health and groundwater impacts, if any, presented by the facility.  Once EPA completes this review process, an environmental indicator determination will be prepared and posted to this website.

EPA sets national goals to measure progress toward meeting the nation' s major environmental goals. For Corrective Action, EPA evaluates two key environmental indicators for each facility: ( 1) current human exposures under control and (2) migration of contaminated groundwater under control. The Facility met both of these indicators on November 6, 2017.

On October 11, 2018, issued a Corrective Action Statement of Basis stating Corrective Actions are complete with no further action required.
