This site, once part of Jones and Laughlin Steel which was subsequently acquired by LTV Steel then closed the plant in October 2000. Real Estate Developer, Bet Tech International, then acquired the property however LTV Steel continues to have Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) post closure responsibility.  This five acre parcel consists of a closed RCRA Hazardous Waste Landfill, designated the Secure Landfill and a slag landfill, designated the Residual Waste Area. The Secure Landfill was closed with a RCRA cap and post-closure care under a PADEP Consent Order and post-closure plan.

Primary contaminants of concern are volatile orgranic compounds (VOC) and lead.

While there are no Institutional Controls, there are landfill caps and the secured landfill is operating under a Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (PADEP) consent order.
