Cleanup Status

EPA plans to collect groundwater samples in the summer 2014 to further assess both the groundwater and vapor intrusion pathways at the Facility.  In March 2017,  EPA determined that the  Environmental Indicators: Human Health Exposures Under Control and Migration of Groundwater  Under Control  had been met.

The South Taylor Environmental Park (STEP) is a landfill site  part of which is designated and managed as wildlife habitat. United States Steel Corporation purchased the property in the early 1900s and has used it over the years for disposal of iron- and steelmaking byproducts.
