EPA amended the interim status regulations for closing and providing postclosure care for hazardous waste surface impoundments (title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 265, Subpart K), under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). EPA also set forth its interpretation of the regulatory requirements applying to closure of storage facilities regulated under both permits and interim status.
