EPA promulgated final regulations for new and existing interim status, accumulation, and permitted tank systems. The final rule substantially amends the sections of Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) Parts 260, 261, 262, 264, 265, 270, and 271 that apply to tank systems managing hazardous wastes. These regulations address, among other things, the design and installation of the primary containment vessel, release detection and response, and closure/post-closure requirements.
