On August 14, 1987, EPA proposed to amend its hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) governing changes at interim status and permitted hazardous waste management facilities. This proposed rule was intended to simplify changes that are necessary to comply with new regulatory requirements. EPA also proposed to amend its permitting regulations to clarify the Agency's authority to deny permits for the active life of a facility while a permit decision with respect to the post-closure period remains pending.
