In this action, EPA proposed to amend its regulations concerning ground-water monitoring with regard to analyzing suspected contamination from regulated units at land-based hazardous waste treatment, storage, and disposal facilities (TSDF). The amendments would replace requirements to analyze for the general list of all constituents on Appendix VIII to Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations in Part 261 with new requirements to analyze for a specific ground-water monitoring list of chemicals (Appendix IX to 40 CFR Part 264), plus additional chemicals designated by the Regional Administrator on a site-specific basis.
