Public Notice: Lawrence Todtz Farm Superfund Site, Camanche, Clinton County, Iowa

Publish Date: 06/19/2020

Summary

EPA Signs Explanation of Significant Differences

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 has issued a proposed Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) for the Lawrence Todtz Farm Superfund Site in Camanche, Iowa. Under the Superfund law, EPA issues an ESD for a site cleanup change that differs from the original decision document, but does not alter the overall remedy.

This ESD memorializes a decision to update the health-based standards at the site, which have changed since the 1988 Record of Decision. Also, EPA is updating the action levels to reflect these updated health-based standards.

EPA has assessed the ability of the public to access the proposed ESD through an internet-based repository and has determined that the local community has this ability. The Administrative Record for this site will be available online for anyone with an internet connection. For additional site information, please visit EPA’s website (see Site Documents & Data).

The proposed ESD provides an opportunity for the public to provide comments on the proposed changes. A 30-day public comment period begins June 22, 2020, and ends July 22, 2020.
