Inert Reassessment Document for Carbon Black - CAS No. 1333-86-4

The major use of carbon black is in the manufacture of rubber products, particularly in tires and other automotive components. Carbon black is also used as a pigment or colorant in inks, paints, leather dyes, ceramics, and coatings; as well as in plastics. It is also has limited use as an inert ingredient in pesticide products as a colorant/pigment in animal ear-tag.

List Reclassification Determination: Based on the low risk finding, this inert ingredient can be reclassified from List 3 to 4B.
