Octadecyl 3,5-di-tert-butyl-4-hydroxyhydrocinnamate is predominately used as a thermal stabilizer and antioxidant in plastic materials. It is also used as a thermal stabilizer/antioxidant in animal tags, such as cattle ear tags, and similar slow-release devices at not more than 0.5% by wight of pesticide formulations.
