Since E. coli contamination is the main cause of impaired streams in Nebraska, Locating sources of E. coli  has been a huge priority for Nebraska environmental managers. While some potential sources have been explored, some have been overlooked in recent research. This project will use advanced technology, including the PhyloChip, to identify relationships between E. coli and potential animal sources and improve monitoring efforts for source location. The results will inform watershed planning and reduce the cost needed to fill key information gaps.
