The Region 6 Library does not circulate materials to individuals. However, the public is welcome to visit the library, by appointment, and use library materials onsite. The Librarian is available to answer questions.

Members of the public or students wishing to borrow materials and unable to visit should contact their local public, school, or university library and ask for an Interlibrary Loan. To locate EPA library materials, you can search the EPA National Library Catalog. If you have any questions, please call or e-mail.

Information For Other Libraries: We freely share circulating materials from our collection with other libraries via the OCLC Resource Sharing system. The EPA Region 6 Library OCLC symbol is EMA. For libraries that do not have OCLC Resource Sharing access, please contact the librarian via email at Library_Region6@epa.gov or fax at 214-665-8574. For additional information you may contact the librarian directly via telephone during operating hours at 214-665-6424. Thank you.

Many library services are available electronically for the public. EPA employees have additional on-line resources (such as journals and other periodicals) available via Desktop Library Services.

About the Library

The mission of the EPA Region 6 Library is to create and sustain a trusted environment that enables learning, research and the advancement of knowledge. The library is committed to developing strategies, appropriate collections and services that promote and encourage research efforts. We provide instruction and individual consultation to assist users in identifying, locating, and interpreting information in a variety of formats. The library strives to use appropriate technology to make services and resources available to the Region by providing access to and instruction in the use of a variety of information resources in print and online.

The selection, cataloging, management, and evaluation of information resources is undertaken to support present and future programs of EPA Region 6. Ongoing review and evaluation of library resources and services shall be carried out in collaboration with the Regional Library Board and the community it supports to determine the nature of information resources and services needed.

The Region 6 Library shares information resources with other EPA libraries, local, state, national and international communities and libraries in an attempt to anticipate and respond to trends and legislation on environmental protection, and delivery of information as these affect the Library and the Region. Library patrons include the Region 6 office and satellite offices, other EPA Libraries, state partners, tribal partners and the public.

The library was dedicated in honor of Sunder Ram, a former EPA Library Manager. Background information about Sunder Ram.
