Landfill Methane Outreach Program (LMOP)

International Activities of the Landfill Methane Outreach Program

LMOP's efforts to promote landfill gas (LFG) recovery and use extend beyond U.S. borders. Internationally, LMOP works with organizations to promote LFG recovery and use by offering a variety of outreach, education, and technical assistance services to countries interested in LFG energy project development.

Those interested in learning more about LMOP’s international efforts or are currently developing or considering developing LFG energy projects outside of the United States, can visit the Global Methane Initiative (GMI) website Exit. GMI is an international public-private initiative that advances cost-effective, near-term methane abatement, recovery, and use as a clean energy resource in five sectors: agriculture, coal mines, municipal solid waste, oil and gas systems, and wastewater.
