Final Explanation of Significant Differences
Administrative Record File Available
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Region 7 has issued a Final Explanation of Significant Differences (ESD) to the 2010 Record of Decision to address heavy metals contamination for Operable Units 1 and 2 within the Newton County Mine Tailings National Priorities List (NPL) Superfund Site (site) in Newton County, Missouri. Lead is one of the primary contaminants of concern. Public comments were accepted from July 20, 2020, through Aug. 20, 2020. EPA signed the ESD on Sept. 10, 2020.
