DALLAS – (Oct 24, 2019) The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded $768,249 to the City of Albuquerque’s Environmental Health Department to help improve and maintain air quality. This funding will also help Albuquerque meet requirements for national air quality standards.

“We are pleased to support our valued partner, Albuquerque/Bernalillo County, with these grant funds to control air pollution,” said EPA Regional Administrator Ken McQueen. “We can achieve our best environmental results working with our partners and supporting their continuing efforts.”

The City of Albuquerque’s Environmental Health Department will use the funds to support a range of activities, including air permitting and planning, environmental compliance and air quality monitoring.

This grant will also help carry out clean air act regulations, permitting and other related program activities.

This award is provided under section 105 of the Clean Air Act authorizing EPA to provide grants to air pollution control agencies, which include local agencies with responsibility for enforcing laws related to preventing and controlling air pollution.
