ROSEVILLE, Ohio (November 12, 2019) – U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (U.S. EPA) recently began removing lead-contaminated soil from four residential yards near the former Friendship Pottery I site at 90 Church St. in Roseville. EPA is planning to replace the contaminated soil with clean soil and restore the yards this year, weather permitting. The agency has covered children’s play areas and soil with six inches of mulch to reduce exposure until the cleanup is completed.

Ohio EPA referred the site to the federal agency after soil samples showed elevated lead concentrations at the former pottery and in nearby residential yards. In September, U.S. EPA staff met with the homeowners to share the sample results and provide health information.
