National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES)

Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) 2016 Settlement Agreement

EPA is proposing a 2020 NPDES Multi-Sector General Permit (MSGP) permit to replace the 2015 MSGP upon finalization. This proposed permit would cover stormwater discharges from industrial facilities in areas where EPA is the NPDES permitting authority.

Per a 2016 settlement agreement, EPA agreed that, when drafting the proposed next MSGP, it would consider all recommendations outlined in a National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine’s National Research Council (NRC) study.
