Current Permit Backlog Status
This report shows EPA’s permit backlog status at a snapshot in time based on EPA databases and input from EPA regional offices. This report does not include information on NPDES permits where states, tribes, and territories are authorized to manage the NPDES program. This report will be updated on an annual basis.

These reports show the backlog status nationwide, based on EPA databases and input from EPA regional offices and states. The reports show a snapshot in time. The status of facilities and the universe of permits change continually.
